Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium, 1 April 2020 - IBA (Ion Beam Applications SA), the world’s leading provider of proton therapy solutions for the treatment of cancer, today announces that a Virginia patient has completed the first proton therapy treatment cycle at the Inova Mather Proton Therapy Center, in Fairfax, Virginia, USA.

The Proteus® platform installed in Fairfax is an IBA Proteus®PLUS* solution with two gantry rooms, each equipped with Pencil Beam Scanning capability and integrated Cone Beam CT.

With 37 IBA-equipped proton therapy centers in operation – 25 Proteus®PLUS and 12 Proteus®ONE* – IBA has the largest users' community in proton therapy confirming IBA's leadership in the market. In addition, IBA is also leading innovation in proton therapy with future technologies such as proton ARC Therapy** and proton FLASH** irradiation on its Proteus ® platform.
